To investigate whether eccentric exercise (ECC) is suitable for increasing muscle strength and thickness, whether low-intensity and high-intensity resistance training (RT) have an additive effect on muscle strength and thickness after ECC, and whether elastic RT is effective in increasing muscle strength and thickness. Subjects were 64 healthy male basketball players. They performed five sets of 12 repetitions of ECC and one set of 10 repetitions of low-intensity RT and high-intensity RT. Elastic RT was performed 5 days a week for 3 weeks. Then, isometric strength of the elbow flexor muscles was measured by an isokinetic dynamometer. The thicknesses of the flexor digitorum superficialis, flexor digitorum profundus, and biceps brachii were measured by ultrasonography. The mean value of the cross-sectional area of the biceps brachii was significantly greater in the high-intensity RT group than in the low-intensity RT group. The values of the isometric strength of the elbow flexor muscles and the thickness of the flexor digitorum superficialis and flexor digitorum profundus were significantly greater in the high-intensity RT group than in the low-intensity RT group. Elastic RT resulted in a significantly greater isometric strength of the elbow flexor muscles and a greater thickness of the flexor digitorum superficialis and flexor digitorum profundus than ECC. Low-intensity RT and high-intensity RT may have additive effects on muscle strength and thickness after ECC.Over the last year, the sales of smart speakers has exploded and the market is currently in a slow but continuous growth phase.
